Christmas Craft: Yarn Tree

Hello folks! Here’s a fun craft you can do at home with just a few materials! Here’s what you will need:

  • Paper (Cardstock works best, but you can use any type of paper you have!)

  • Printable Pattern (link)

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Ruler/Scoring Tool

  • Yarn

  • Wood Pieces (Star, stump and base, these can all be made of paper or other materials you have!)

Step 1: Print your tree stencil and cut it out along the solid lines. Make sure you hold onto the scrap pieces for your base.

Step 2: You will want to score your paper along the dotted lines and accordion fold along the lines. This means alternating the direction of your fold for each line.

Step 3: Manipulate your base until you have an idea of how the tree will look. Then use glue to pinch together your tree. Once you’ve glued your template into a tree shape, you can cut out a rough base and use plenty of hot glue to attach it to a pentagon shape cut from your excess cardstock!

Step 4: Once your tree is standing and beautiful, you can select your yarn colour. Glue a bit of the end to a spot on the bottom of the tree and wrap around the paper tree structure. You can use dots of glue as you go to hold the yarn in place. We recommend doing two layers to ensure a seamless look.

Step 5: When you are happy with your yarn, you can add your star and base!

You did it!! We would love to see what you created! Tag us in your craft posts @campkintail and use #KintailCreates
